State of the County 2025 Press Release

County Executive Cassilly Provides Update for Business Community at Harford Chamber’s State of the County

Bel Air, MD – On Thursday, January 23rd, The Harford County Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual State of the County event, sponsored by MedStar Health. Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly gave his State of the County Address, sharing the administration’s accomplishments this past year in office and future opportunities.

Harford Chamber Board Chair, Chris Stone of E-Moxie, welcomed guests and recognized dignitaries in attendance. Dr. Stuart Levine, President, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and Senior Vice President, MedStar Health, offered sponsor remarks.

After lunch, Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly presented his State of the County address. He opened by noting the successes over the past two years. County Executive Cassilly shared that his administration has been working diligently to improve government efficiency and reduce spending.

Related to economic development, the County Executive stated, “we are growing well-paying, modern, high-tech manufacturing jobs and expanding opportunities for local businesses.” Cassilly thanked the many small businesses represented at the event, citing that small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, creating $547 million in capital and 850 new jobs.

He also recognized the Department of Economic Development for visiting over 760+ local businesses to discuss needs in the community and provide resources.  Harford County re-introduced the Route 40 Revitalization Program with new funding and created a business showcase for students to connect them with job opportunities with local manufacturers.

The County Executive noted the challenges that will come from a lagging state economy but agreed with Governor Moore’s sentiments that we cannot “tax our way out of our problems”. Cassilly noted the tragedies that have happened in Harford County this year but left listeners with this encouragement: “We are a community of support, through the good and the bad. We rise to help our fellow citizens. Everyone matters and we are all up to the challenge of making Harford County the best that it can be.”
