Exploring Native Wildflowers and their Habitats with Dr. Alan Weakley, Plant Conservationist: An expert on the flora of the southeast including Maryland, Dr. Alan Weakley shares his vast experience investigating the flora, natural plant communities, and conservation of the region. Alan will introduce plants in their natural habitats in vivid photographs, demonstrate a practical plant identification app, and update progress on significant plant conservation issues. Currently UNC-Chapel Hill Herbarium Director, Alan was chief ecologist for The Nature Conservancy and co-authored the field guide “Wildflowers of the Atlantic Southeast”, available for sale at the event.
