Description

Harford Family House, the largest provider of transitional housing for homeless families in Harford County, announces its first annual Home for the Holidays campaign. The fundraising effort aims to ensure no child has to spend the holidays sleeping in a car, being cold or going hungry. From Giving Tuesday, November 29 through Saturday, December 31, individuals or businesses can make a monetary donation online to help fund a night of shelter for a family facing homelessness this holiday season. “For most of us, the holidays are a time of joy and happiness, but for more than you might think, the colder nights make finding a warm place to sleep that much harder, especially when you have a child depending on you,” said Robin Tomechko, CEO and executive director of Harford Family House. “Our goal is to raise $15,000 for our Home for the Holidays campaign so that we can provide warm nights of shelter for homeless families in our community.” To kick off the campaign on Giving Tuesday, Harford Family House joins SMASH Hits WHGM radio for a one-day radio-thon. The organization encourages the community to support its mission this holiday season and work to end homelessness one family at a time. To donate, please visit http://weblink.donorperfect.com/HomeForHolidays. After making a donation, Harford Family House asks that its supporters share a photo of their family at home for the holidays on its Facebook page. A $10 donation provides a holiday stocking for one child, a $25 donation provides a night of shelter for one mother, father or child, a $50 donation provides work transportation for five adults, a $100 donation provides one week of groceries or a month of heat for a family of four and a $500 donation provides a holiday shopping trip for five families. Harford Family House is seeking companies that match donations, for more information, please call us at 410-273-6700 or visit our website at www.harfordfamilyhouse.org.
