At The Screaming Bean, we believe today’s cashiers are tomorrow’s managers—and leadership begins long before someone earns a job title. As a community coffee shop, we give back through every purchase while investing in the people behind the counter. Our employees learn more than how to prepare a great latte. They have opportunities to understand how a business operates, including the cost of goods sold, marketing, profit margins, payroll, and purchasing. We believe people make more thoughtful decisions when they understand both the work and the reasons behind it. Their voices matter, too. Employees have a voice at the monthly meetings to help shape our menu and business decisions. We are seeking a part-time barista with weekend availability. A warm smile and enthusiasm are welcome, but we also value reliability, curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to listen, learn, and support others. The role includes: Preparing coffee and specialty beverages with care and consistency. Welcoming customers and helping create a friendly, community-centered atmosphere. Handling transactions and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. Supporting teammates and contributing ideas during employee meetings. Learning the daily operations and business principles behind a growing independent coffee shop. With our third location scheduled to open in April 2027, we are gradually expanding and training our bar and kitchen teams, requiring an estimated eight new members of the crew by January. Early in the new year, all of the employees will sit down and discuss the transition together, considering employees’ interests and strengths as we determine who will help open the new location and who will help welcome and train new teammates at our existing shops. For us, professional growth means developing judgment, confidence, accountability, and an understanding of how individual decisions affect an entire team.
