BEL AIR, Md. — SSGI Benefits, a Decker family-owned independent employee benefits agency serving Harford County, has launched complimentary Maryland FAMLI Employer Action Reviews to help local organizations prepare for the state’s paid family and medical leave requirements.

Important employer deadlines

• September 1, 2026: Employer registration and private-plan Declaration of Intent submissions open.
• November 15, 2026: Declaration of Intent deadline for employers pursuing a private plan for 2027 and seeking relief from State Plan contributions during the seeding period.
• January 1, 2027: Payroll contributions begin.
• January 1, 2028: FAMLI benefits begin.

Although benefits do not begin until 2028, employers must make important payroll, plan and administrative decisions much sooner.
