The 13th Annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk, which raises funds for Cancer LifeNet, takes place Saturday, May 9, at The John Carroll School, 703 East Churchville Road in Bel Air. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walk starts at 9 a.m.
The UM Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation, together with Chesapeake Cancer Alliance (CCA) volunteers, hosts this walk to honor those affected by cancer and recognize care providers. This year's goal is to raise $125,000 to support Cancer LifeNet at the More than 600 children participated in Harford County Public Library’s Inclusive Egg Hunt on March 28 at Coppermine Bel Air Athletic Club. This fully accessible, creativity-filled spring celebration reimagined the traditional egg hunt to ensure children of all abilities, especially those who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices, could fully participate.
“Community is what the Library is all about, and the Inclusive Egg Hunt is an extension of what we do. The Library works hard to create experiences Harford County Cultural Arts Board and Harford County Public Library are partnering with Ashley Addiction Treatment and Harford Artists’ Association on a community art exhibition, “The Art of Healing,” that will be on display in the Bel Air Library June 12-August 1.
A Call for Art takes place now through May 17 and is open to artists of all skill levels and experience.
Recovery is deeply personal, and creativity can be an important part of the healing journey. Visual and literary artists of all Join Harford County Public Library for a free swingin’ celebration of National Library Week and the Library’s 80th Anniversary on April 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Fiore Winery & Distillery, 3026 Whiteford Road in Pylesville.
The Daniel Bennett Group will perform an upbeat selection of 1940s-era music, bringing the timeless sounds of jazz and the Great American Songbook to life. The group was recently voted “Best New Jazz” by NYC’s Hot House Magazine. Concert attendees also will hear music from their newly Tickets to Harford County Public Library Foundation’s Third Annual Taste of Harford go on sale on March 17. This popular eat local, buy local, shop local extravaganza, held May 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Vignon Manor Farm, 425 Darlington Road in Havre de Grace, showcases local restaurants, farms, breweries, wineries and distilleries—plus local artisans selling handcrafted goods.
The event sold out its first two years and is expected to do so again in 2026. Tickets cost $50 per person and may be purchased by Harford County Public Library Foundation has elected Brianna Stinebaugh-Blumberg and John Michael to its Board of Directors for a three-year term.
Harford County Public Library Foundation is a charitable organization that raises funds and awareness to support the Library’s services, resources and capital improvements beyond the capacity of the Library's tax-funded operating budget. The Foundation is currently working on several projects including the 3rd Annual Taste of Harford on May 17 at Vignon Harford County Public Library has unveiled its new Rolling Reader, a mobile library offering programs, reading materials, technology and other resources to underserved communities in Harford County.
Introduced in 2001, the original Rolling Reader served the county for more than two decades before retiring in November 2023. Following its retirement, the Library undertook a comprehensive two-year effort to design, order, deliver and outfit a new vehicle that better meets the needs of today’s young learners. Harford County Public Library Foundation’s 21st annual gala, “Epic Rewind: Eighties in the Stacks,” raised $100,000 net the evening of November 1 at the Abingdon Library.
The gala, attended by 650 guests, is the Library’s largest fundraiser. Proceeds support the Library’s programs for early literacy, STEM resources, internet access and vital community programs across Harford County. The Presenting Sponsors were Klein’s ShopRite of Maryland and Saxon’s Diamond Centers. For a complete listing of sponsors, Harford County Cultural Arts Advisory Board is accepting applications for Community Arts Development Grants and Arts in Education Grants for Fiscal Year 2026.
The Community Arts Development Grants Program provides general operating support to local arts nonprofit organizations and arts programming support to nonprofits whose primary purpose is other than producing or presenting the arts. Applications are due by July 31 at 11:59 p.m.
