    2. Position Description:
      1. The Accounting Assistant provides support to the Accounting department by performing a variety of financial and administrative tasks. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close activities. The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
    3. Key Duties and Roles:
      1. Prepare, process, track, and verify invoices, expense reports (ERs), and payment requests in accordance with (IAW) Company policies
      2. Support AP and AR functions, including data entry, payment processing, and follow-ups
      3. Perform routine account reconciliations, including bank and credit card statements
      4. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting transactions into internal and external accounting systems (i.e. filing, organizing, assisting, etc.)
      5. Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll processing inside Deltek Costpoint
      6. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals
      7. Monitor and track outstanding balances and assist with resolving discrepancies
      8. Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and summaries for internal use
      9. Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding payments and/or financial transactions
      10. Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and applicable regulations
      11. Support audits by gathering documentation and assisting with auditor requests
      12. Identify process improvement opportunities and assist in implementing efficiencies
      13. Other duties, as assigned
    4. Basic Qualifications:
      1. Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
      2. Four (4) + years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience
      3. Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
      4. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (i.e., Deltek Costpoint, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
      5. Demonstrated, strong experience with accounting software (i.e., Deltek Costpoint, SAP Concur, etc.)
      6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
      7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
      8. Strong organizational and time management skills
      9. Demonstrated, strong experience with Microsoft Office software applications and features of each application (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
      10. Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
      11. Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies independently and proactively
    5. Preferred Qualifications
      1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or six (6) + years of demonstrated experience
      2. Experience in government contracting or project-based accounting environments
      3. Prior experience supporting audits or financial reporting processes
      4. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
      5. Prior experience as a Buyer or in a purchasing/procurement role
    6. Travel:
      1. Minimal, local travel less than 10% of the year
